TAJ MAHAL

Taj Mahal - built in India. It is said to be one of the seven wonders of the world.

Jahan Shah received advice from his abusive grandfather Jahangir Shah for 23 years. His grandfather always told him not to listen to his wife's words. Shahzade Jahan, inspired by this, was always cruel and distinguished from his other brothers. That is why his grandfather, Jahangir Shah, loved him. However, Shahzade, who wants to travel the country at the age of 29, falls in love with Mumtaz as soon as he sees her and, contrary to his grandfather's words, hates Jahangir Shah. At 32, he killed his grandfather, received an inheritance and married Mumtaz. Jahan Shah's wife, Arjumand Banu, won the hearts of the entire empire with her beauty, intelligence and good deeds and was the most popular sultana. Apart from these adjectives, she was also known as Mumtaz Mahal. Jahan Shah fell in love with her when he was still 20 years old and waited 12 years to get married. Jahan Shah took his beloved wife with him wherever he went, based on her opinion and taste.

This sensitive, intelligent and beautiful woman died in 1631 while giving birth to her 14th child. Even Jahan Shah saw in a dream that his wife fell down 14 steps between him and his wife. Mumtaz Mahal dies 1 day after sleep. For this reason, Jahan Shah hated his 14th child and did not always look him in the face. For eight days, Jahan Shah mourned the death of his wife, did not eat or drink, and did not leave the house. On the ninth day, when he opened the door of his apartment and went out, it was evident that his hair was white and he was very old.

A sensitive, faithful lover, a faithful ruler decided to build a tomb for his beloved wife, which he would keep in his heart until his death. This tomb had to be beautiful, heart-opening and at the same time majestic, symbolizing pure love. To do this, he will find the greatest masters of the world and let them spend their treasure on this work. For this, he brought architects from Istanbul. The arrivals were the architect Mehmed Isa Efendi, one of the students of the architect Sina, and his team.

During the construction of the Taj Mahal, on which Mehmed Isa Efendi worked for several months and drew a plan, extremely bright white marble was used. The bright white marble also had subtle blue veins. The height of this magnificent marble dome is 82 meters. The golden crescent on the dome increases this height. The mausoleum also has four white marble minarets.

Construction of the Taj Mahal began in 1631 and was completed in 1650. The coffins of Mumtaz Mahal and Jahan Shah, who was buried next to him after his death, are on the top floor. In these coffins under the dome, you can see the most beautiful examples of marble carvings. Where the coffins stand, every sound from human lips echoes seven times in the majestic dome.

A treasure in itself like a work of art, the walls of the Taj Mahal are covered with real gems. On the walls of hundreds of thousands of agates, mother-of-pearl and turquoise, there are 42 emeralds, 142 rubies, 625 diamonds and 50 very large pearls. 47 million gold liras were spent on the construction of the tomb, and this is not counting the jewelry on the walls. This monument with 4 minarets made of white and pink marble, reaching a height of 75 meters, fascinated with its proportionality, perfect symmetry and immense beauty. Even if we say that 19 million gold lira was spent on the magnificent Suleymaniye Mosque in Istanbul, it is better to understand what a great sacrifice was made for the Taj Mahal.
